How to do it
- 1Choose a recording, or drop it on the box. MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG and FLAC all work, and so does the sound from most video files.
- 2Pick how much noise to remove. Medium suits most recordings.
- 3Press Remove the noise, then play the before and after to compare.
- 4Save the clean version as an MP3 or a WAV file.
Questions
Is my recording uploaded?
No. The noise remover is downloaded to your browser the first time you use it (about 13 MB), and after that everything happens on your own computer. Your recording is never sent anywhere.
How does it work?
It uses DeepFilterNet, an open source neural network trained to tell speech from noise. It listens in tiny slices of 10 milliseconds and turns down whatever is not voice.
Why is the first time slower?
The first time, your browser downloads the noise remover. It is kept, so the next recording starts straight away.
Does it work on music?
It is made for speech: podcasts, interviews, voice notes, lectures and video voice-overs. On music it may treat instruments as noise, so use the Light setting or the hum remover instead.
How long can the recording be?
Up to three hours. A typical computer cleans a one hour recording in about ten minutes.
